Rajasthan is a state in India which is rich in art , craft and culture. One of the popular craft of Rajasthan is exquisite woodcraft. Kishangarh (near Ajmer) is famous for this woodcraft where the skilled artisans devote their time in creating each unique piece out of wood . These artisans use mostly mango wood for making beautiful products such as furniture and various other utilitarian items like magazine racks, multipurpose boxes, coasters, caskets, etc . These beautifully designed wooden items, which are of intricate nature, are then painted in Mughal motifs and other traditional Rajasthani motifs. One of the most popular motifs painted is the “Sawaari” motif depicting the royal procession. The paintings embossed on these woodworks make it look rich and magnificent.
